With the USS Carl Vinson naval strike group heading for the Korean Peninsula, North Korea continues its show of defiance. But despite of the arrest and detention of a third U.S. citizen and ongoing threats of nuclear war, one veteran diplomat still sees a potential “path forward” to easing tensions with the unpredictable Kim regime.

Grand ambitions

In October, during his campaign for the White house, President Trump presented his “100-Day Plan To Make America Great Again” in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He promised to “work with Congress” to bring sweeping changes. That 100th day in office is fast approaching, so how he’s doing on his ambitious list?

Vote for change

France voted for change last night in their presidential election. Both of the candidates who made it through to the runoff vote next month are mavericks. Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen have both bucked the powerful French establishment, but in very different ways, and with very serious implications for Europe.
