Jumping through hoops
Of the three states in which Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein is pursuing total presidential election vote recounts, Pennsylvania may have the highest hurdles. For one, it’s the only state in which candidates can’t file direct requests. We look at how her campaign has gained momentum, and what it must surmount to get the ballots recounted in Pennsylvania, in particular.
Cuba’s future
Crowds are gathering in Havana’s Revolution Square for the beginning of a two-day memorial for Fidel Castro. The former dictator, who ruled Cuba for 49 years, died last week. Castro’s death marks the end of an era. Whether it’s the start of a new one for Cuba, however, remains to be seen.
App fraud
Consumers on Cyber Monday are expected to fill their digital shopping carts in record numbers, with online sales today expected to top the $3 billion mark. But cybersecurity experts warn smartphone shoppers could be at risk because of dangerous, often counterfeit apps.
Seat belt injuries
Seat belts are meant to protect us in car crashes, but for some drivers, they can be harmful. Drivers 85 and older are nine times more likely per mile driven to be hurt in a crash -- often with chest injuries. We found out how researchers are learning why one-size seat belts don’t necessarily fit all.

The biggest gift the U.S. could get this holiday season is robust shopping by American consumers. Solid consumer spending is vital to overcoming the two biggest drags on the economy of late: tepid spending by businesses and a strong dollar that discourages U.S. exports.
