Wildfires

California is under a state of emergency, with mandatory evacuations in place for residents near many of some 25 wildfires burning across the state. The Rocky fire is the biggest. It now covers 54,000 acres -- an area larger than San Francisco. The fire has already destroyed two dozen homes, and at least 6,000 more are in danger. CBS News correspondent Carter Evans reports from Clearlake, California.

Second American hunter

A second American is wanted in Zimbabwe for hunting another lion. Dr. Jan Seski is accused of illegally killing the animal this spring, three months before the death of Cecil the lion. Seski is a well-known gynecologist and oncologist in the Pittsburgh area. CBS News correspondent Anna Werner reports on why officials in Zimbabwe are cracking down on illegal hunting.

Search continues

Malaysian officials on Monday joined locals scouring the beaches of the remote French island of La Reunion for any debris that might be from missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370, which disappeared over a year ago with 239 people on board. The east coast of La Reunion is still open to the public, so island residents, including the beach cleaning crew that found an airplane wing part called a flaperon last week, were searching for any washed up wreckage that might help solve the mystery of MH370.

Biden 2016?

There are rumors that Vice President Joe Biden could make another bid for the Oval Office. Biden has always left the door open for a run, but hasn't made any overt steps toward a bid, either. CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes reports Hillary Clinton's e-mail troubles and soft poll numbers in some areas have reignited questions about a backup.

Tech competition

Will the next generation of tech giants come from the Valley? Maybe not. Fierce competition has been growing elsewhere in the country, and in the world, even as Silicon Valley's past successes make it harder for up-and-comers to ply their trade in the area.
