Prince is gone

This year, still less than half over, has cemented itself in the annals of history as a cruel chapter in the minds of millions of music lovers. Prince, one of the most enduring talents and far-reaching popular culture pioneers to ever emerge from America, has died unexpectedly at just 57.

Touting Trump

In a meeting with Republican National Committee members in Florida, Donald Trump's top aide, Paul Manafort, told party leaders the billionaire is ready to become a more traditional candidate -- one that can appeal to a broader swath of the American electorate. Manafort tells CBS News about his mission.

Trump's promises

Like any presidential candidate, Donald Trump makes promises -- and some of his have been rather stunning. While it's hard to predict whether he'd actually be able to deliver on his grander pledges after the election, but we can look at how he's lived up to some of his nearer-term vows.

Women's choice?

Hillary Clinton is already closer than anyone in history to becoming the nation's first female president, but that doesn't mean all female Democratic officeholders are on her side. We meet two fighting hard for her rival Bernie Sanders, and find out why going against the Clinton grain presents a unique challenge.

Special relationship

President Obama is in the British capital today, ostensibly to dine with members of the royal family and wish Queen Elizabeth II a very happy 90th birthday. But his visit will also see him wade knee-deep into a controversial domestic issue for Britons; their country's membership in the European Union.

Oversized impact

As world leaders gather on Earth Day to sign a climate deal aimed at capping the increase in global temperatures at one-and-a-half or two degrees, new research suggests that small, half-of-a-degree difference could have a dramatic impact on the lives of millions.

Liars and cheaters

From Volkswagen cheating on pollution tests to Mitsubishi exaggerating its cars' fuel efficiency, it's clear Americans have reason to question automaker claims about their vehicles. So do all car makers lie? On one key point in particular, experts say skepticism is warranted.

Honoring Shakespeare

England is celebrating Shakespeare's 400-year legacy with parades, fireworks and open-air performances. But we meet one tribute act that went above and beyond; traveling almost 200,000 miles and bringing his plays to every corner of the globe, to honor the Bard.

Mind at ease?

Ever wonder why you don't feel as rested when you spend the night away from home? Scientists say one side of your brain may be "keeping watch" over unfamiliar surroundings -- the same way some animals do. We get some expert advice to help you sleep more soundly when you travel.
