Princess Charlene was photographed cheering on South African swimmer and friend Chad le Clos in the men's 200-meter Butterfly race last week.

When he edged out Michael Phelps for the gold, Princess Charlene could be seen getting teary-eyed, as seen in pictures posted the U.K.'s Daily Mail.

Princess Charlene is an ex-Olympic swimmer, so she knows what it's like to be inside the Olympic pool. She competed with the South African female team in the Sydney Games in 2000.
