Garry Shandling's "The Larry Sanders Show" to return to HBO
Garry Shandling passed away at 66 on Thursday, but his legacy lives on through his most well-known work, "The Larry Sanders Show."
Soon, fans will be able to see the show exclusively on HBO, thanks to a deal Shandling made before he died. It will air on the channel and its streaming services, reports the Wrap.
Episodes were available on Sony streaming platform Crackle earlier this year, but the service lost content rights two months ago. Crackle was interested in streaming the episodes again, but were unable to because of the HBO deal.
"I loved Garry. We were fulfilling his wishes to see the show move to HBO," Sony Pictures Television chairman Steve Mosko told TheWrap.
"The Larry Sanders Show" followed fictional talk show host Larry Sanders and his hectic life behind the scenes; the supporting cast included Janeane Garofalo, Bob Odenkirk and Jeremy Piven. The series, which launched in 1992, was nominated for several Emmys and won a writing Emmy for writing in 1998. Shandling was nominated for two Golden Globes for best actor in a TV comedy series for "Sanders."
