Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton by 20 percentage points in NH
Sen. Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton by 20 percentage points just days before the New Hampshire primary, according to an NBC News/Marist poll released Thursday.
The survey, which was conducted in the two days following Monday's Iowa caucuses, found 58 percent of likely Democratic primary voters in the Granite State back the Vermont independent for president while 38 percent said they support Clinton.
These latest numbers are relatively unchanged since a similar poll was released last week.
Sanders leads Clinton 69 percent to 26 percent among independent voters in New Hampshire, the poll found. He also has an significant advantage with men and people who are between the ages of 18 and 29.
The poll found Sanders even does better among women, leading Clinton 50 percent to 46 percent.
Clinton, by contrast, does better with likely Democratic primary voters who are age 60 and older. Among that group, she leads Sanders 51 percent to 44 percent.
The remaining two presidential contenders in the Democratic race face off in MSNBC's debate Thursday night for the first time since Clinton won the caucuses on Monday, and just days before New Hampshire's primary on Tuesday.
The latest CBS News battleground tracker poll released late last month found that Sanders was leading Clinton in New Hampshire by 19 percentage points -- 57 percent to 38 percent. That survey also predicted a close race in Iowa.
The NBC/Marist poll surveyed 567 likely Democratic primary voters between Feb. 2 and 3 with a 4.1 percentage point margin of error.
