(CBS/AP) Ann Curry made a return to the "Today" show's set in London on Thursday.

Curry was on "Today" to introduce a filmed report on a still photographer. Her appearance comes almost a month and a half after she lost her job as Matt Lauer's co-anchor and was replaced by Savannah Guthrie.

Her story appeared in the show's second hour. She introduced it while sitting on the set next to Lauer, and had no on-air interactions with others on the "Today" team.

Curry's banter with Lauer seemed polite but distant. Lauer said "nice to see you" at the outset and "good to see you" at the end. Curry returned neither sentiment.

She had appeared on "Today" once since her ouster, reporting from Aurora, Colo., after the movie theater shooting there.

Curry is expected to be on hand for the closing ceremonies at the London Games on Sunday.

She parted ways with "Today" in June in what became an emotional on-air goodbye. Curry remains a correspondent on NBC.

Shortly before her official departure, Curry did a candid interview with Ladies' Home Journal for its August 2012 issue, talking about beauty, parenting and her career. She also opened up about how her fashion preferences didn't always go over well at work.

"One day I wore a multicolored dress and someone asked if I was trying to be Toucan Sam," Curry revealed. "But I chose it because I thought, 'This will perk up America.' I'm encouraged by my bosses to wear these ridiculously high-heel shoes because women say, 'I love your shoes!' So if it makes women happy, I'll wear them. But I'm still going to be me."
