CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS) Friends and teammates are speaking out against former UVA lacrosse player George Huguely and claim that "he would get out of control" when drinking, reports The New York Daily News.
A friend of Huguely's, who played lacrosse with him in summer leagues, told The Daily News that Huguely "partied really hard and when he was drunk or f---ed up, he could be violent. He would get out of control."
The friend described Huguely as "obsessive," saying that Huguely constantly called and texted Love to the point where those close to her were worried about their relationship, according to The Daily News.
Another friend of Huguely and Love described a confrontation where Huguely attacked Love, and had no recollection the next day. Apparently, this incident led to the couple's break-up, says The Daily News. This same friend said, "Huguely had been seen breaking bottles at another party before Love's death and had told people he was going to her apartment to get Love back," says the paper.
Huguely is currently the prime suspect in the death of Love, who was found lifeless in her apartment early Monday morning. According to an affidavit, Huguely told police that he shook Love and that her head repeatedly hit her bedroom wall.
The lawyer for the accused claims that the tragic event was an accident.
