Politics of addiction
New Hampshire is a key early election battleground state, and it's also one of the states on the front line of the nation's heroin addiction crisis. Several of the 2016 presidential candidates have had drug problems hit close to home, and we look at each of their positions on dealing with addiction.
El Niño
Record-breaking storms in the West have flooded busy roads, created mudslides and damaged homes, and forecasters say the nightmare isn't over yet. El Niño will bring scattered showers and lower temperatures today to Southern California.
Teen concussions
Concussions often go undiagnosed, but the National Institutes of Health says there are nearly 300,000 sports-related traumatic brain injuries in the U.S. every year. Many of the victims are teenagers, who are often eager to get back in the game, and researchers in Buffalo say that may not be such a bad idea.
Let it snow!
December's record warmth in the Northeast wasn't welcomed by everyone, and anyone who enjoys swishing down slopes -- or caters to winter sport lovers for a living, was particularly put out. But January has ushered in change, and the East Coast ski season may finally be able to get underway.
Millennials' money
On paper, millennials are the best-educated generation the U.S. has ever seen. But they also may be the least financially savvy. Research shows people aged 18-to-34 are more prone than older adults to engage in some risky financial behaviors.
Shark nursery
Off the coast of New York's Long Island, researchers have discovered a sort of nursery for young sharks. Docile but fierce-looking sand tiger sharks migrate north to the area each summer to feed and grow. Now some of the sharks are being tracked and studied to help preserve the species and the ecosystem.
