The fashion world is fatal in "The Neon Demon"
The fashion world can be cutthroat and vicious.
As Jena Malone's character warns in "The Neon Demon," in the high-pressure industry of either you're sex or you're food -- especially if you're an innocent young woman looking to make it, like Elle Fanning's Jesse, a doe-eyed teen with natural abilities that make her a target for her jealous, more jaded competition.
Fanning and Malone star alongside Keanu Reeves, Bella Heathcoate and Christina Hendricks in director Nicholas Winding Refn's hypnotic, highly stylized look at Los Angeles and how terrifying it can be for young hopefuls.
Refn and his cast spoke to CBS News about what the film depicts and how the fashion world and the film business both can treat young actresses like prey.
"I knew that it would be intense and kind of slightly dark," Fanning said of the film. "After I read the script my mind was blown. You can't believe what actually happens happens."
