Poll: Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in Wisconsin

Hillary Clinton leads Donald Trump in Wisconsin by 5 percentage points, according to a Monmouth University poll released Wednesday.

The survey found that 43 percent of likely voters in the state support Clinton and 38 percent back Trump. Seven percent said they support Libertarian Gary Johnson and 3 percent support Green Party candidate Jill Stein. Eight percent remain undecided.

Thirty-seven percent of independents support Trump compared to 34 percent who support Clinton. Ten percent of independents support Johnson and 6 percent support Stein.

Trump only has a 2-percentage-point lead among white voters while Clinton leads among black, Asian and Hispanic voters, the poll found.

Half of the state’s voters have an unfavorable view of Clinton and 57 percent felt the same away about Trump.

As for the state’s Senate race between incumbent Republican Sen. Ron Johnson and his Democratic challenger Russ Feingold, Feingold leads Johnson 54 percent to 41 percent.

A CBS News battleground tracker poll from late June found 41 percent of Wisconsin voters supported Clinton at the time and 36 percent backed Trump. President Obama won Wisconsin in both 2008 and 2012.

The poll surveyed 404 likely Wisconsin voters between August 27 and 30 with a 4.9 percent margin of error.
