Nike's "Back to the Future" self-lacing shoes coming soon

You won’t have to go too far into the future to pull on a pair of “Back to the Future”-style self-lacing shoes. Nike has confirmed it will sell the HyperAdapt 1.0 sneakers inspired by the movie starting Monday, November 28.

The shoes will be available in select Nike stores in the US, according to Nike PR Director Heidi Burgett.

When you put your foot in the shoe it lights up, as a pressure sensor in the sole draws tighter an arrangement of fishing line inside. You adjust the fit with two buttons on the front. The laces on the front are just for decoration, sadly.

One thing the futuristic vision of “Back to the Future” didn’t include is how often we have to charge things these days. That includes the HyperAdapts, for which a full charge lasts two weeks.
