Honolulu police: Arrest made in theft of golfer's credit cards

HONOLULU - Police in Honolulu, Hawaii say there's been an arrest in connection with credit cards stolen from Australian golfer Robert Allenby.

Police sources tell CBS affiliate KGMB that the suspect, 32-year-old Patrick Habrison, is the man seen on surveillance video at various Waikiki stores using the pro golfer's credit cards.

Allenby was in Honolulu for the Sony Open when he said was kidnapped, beaten, robbed and discarded on the street after leaving a wine bar on Jan. 16 following him being cut from the tournament.

The pro golfer posted photos of a bloodied forehead and swollen eye to his Facebook account. He says he has no recollection of anything from about 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. the night of the incident.

Allenby's story was widely questioned after a homeless woman who found the pro golfer on the street - not far from the wine bar - told a different version of what happened.

The arrest announced Wednesday is the result of an investigation opened by police into fraudulent charges on Allenby's credit cards.

KGMB reports Habrison has been in custody for weeks on unrelated crimes. The 32-year-old has five previous convictions, including one felony drug conviction, police say.

He is charged with second-degree identity theft, second-degree attempted theft and unauthorized possession of confidential personal information in Allenby's case.

Authorities say no additional suspects are being sought.
