Hernandez associate charged with witness tampering in Fla.

BOSTON - A Florida man has been indicted on charges in connection to the Aaron Hernandez murder case, reports CBS Boston.

The station reports Oscar Hernandez, 23, was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying to a federal grand jury, according to an announcement made by the U.S. Attorney's Office on Thursday. The charges relate to ex-NFL star and New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez's alleged murder of Odin Lloyd, a 27-year-old semi-pro football player who was killed last June.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Oscar Hernandez will be in U.S. District Court in Orlando on Thursday before later being brought to Massachusetts.

Authorities told CBS Boston that a gun in Lloyd's murder was recovered from a Toyota Camry which, according to court documents, Oscar Hernandez allegedly purchased and shipped from Florida to North Attleboro, Mass., in April 2013.

Along with that weapon, the station reports that two other guns were found in the Lloyd murder investigation, and that all three were traced back to purchases made in Florida in April 2013 over a period of nine days.

The discovery of the firearms led authorities to investigate the possibility of interstate gun trafficking, according to CBS Boston. None of the guns recovered is the murder weapon, which still has not been found, reports the Sentinel.

In grand jury testimony, Oscar Hernandez is accused of lying about his role in the purchase and shipment of the vehicle. The charges against him state also state that he "did knowingly attempt to persuade another person" - identified only as "KS" in court documents - to withhold information in a grand jury testimony.

Aaron Hernandez is also facing a lawsuit in Florida filed by 30-year-old Alexander Bradley, of Connecticut, who claims the former tight end shot him in the face after they argued at a Miami strip club in February 2013. Bradley is seeking at least $100,000 in damages.

Whether or not Oscar Hernandez is related to Aaron is unclear.
