Gwen Stefani just as surprised about the No Doubt guys' new band as you are

You might have read online earlier this week that the three male members of No Doubt are starting up a new band with AFI singer Davey Havok. Well, so did No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani.

While she's off promoting her new solo album and keeping busy coaching on NBC's "The Voice," bandmates Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young are apparently getting antsy for something to do. It just seems a bit odd that they wouldn't have mentioned it to Stefani themselves.

"I actually first heard about it on the Internet," she admitted during an interview with Jimmy Kimmel. "They're doing, like, a side project. They want to do a band, they want to be in a punk band. It's not No Doubt. It's all the guys from No Doubt are doing a new band. Just to do new music."

"But if you call and say, 'OK, that guys out, I'm back in,' are you back with No Doubt?" Kimmel asked, and that's where things started to get awkward.

"I'll have to text Tony and ask him that, yeah," she answered. "I think there probably would be a vote." Wow, they're only on texting terms? So maybe don't expect a new No Doubt album anytime soon.
