Family, friends and city sanitation workers said their final farewell to Brendan, 2, and Connor, 4, who were with their mother Glenda Moore with the superstorm hit the New York City borough early last week.

Moore's SUV hit a tree and stalled while she was trying to escape. CBS 2's Emily Smith reported she and the boys had left the car when a surge of water came and took the two boys right out of her arms as she clung to a rail.

Their bodies were found last Thursday in a wooded marsh, adding to a rising death toll blamed on the superstorm. New York City experienced 41 deaths, about half of them in Staten Island.

Moore is married to city sanitation worker Damien Moore, who was working during the storm.

The funeral took place at St. Rose of Lima Church in Kinsington. Both boys will be buried in the same coffin.
