Bernie Sanders said Wednesday that his presidential campaign has the resources to go beyond the California primary on Tuesday.

"We have absolutely the financial resources that we need to run a very, very strong campaign here in California and in the other states and in D.C. and Puerto Rico, in Virgin Islands and throughout the rest of the campaign," Sanders said in Spreckels, California.

The Vermont senator said he's spending most of his resources on grassroots efforts and that he has the resources to win in California.

Sanders said he's still committed to going all the way to the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia this July.

"If we win California, and if we win South Dakota, and North Dakota and Montana and New Mexico and New Jersey, and the following week do well in Washington, D.C.," he said. "I think we will be marching into the Democratic convention with an enormous amount of momentum."

California is among six states that hold primary contests on Tuesday, with the final primary in Washington, D.C. on June 14. California is a key state with 475 delegates up for grabs.

According to CBS News' latest count, Hillary Clinton has 2,312 delegates and Sanders has 1,539. He or she needs 2,383 delegates to win the nomination.
