Reeling In A Bass

(CBS)

This week’s 10 plus 1 questionnaire will feature Michael Bass, senior executive producer of “The Early Show,” “The Saturday Early Show,” and “The CBS Morning News.” Check out his bio here (as it turns out, he knows a little bit about the Olympics).

10 plus 1 means we ask 10 questions and you submit one. Fair, no?

And from now on, the 10 plus 1 feature will only include those employees of CBS whose names can be immediately useful as puns. We’ve got other things to do, you know. Just kidding. We’d have quite a time trying to interview Mika Brzezinski that way.

How difficult is it to change viewers\' morning TV habits? CBS News has struggled in the morning news for years, probably for lack of stability. Every couple of years, the show quickly gets a new anchor team, a new set, a new name, a new format and new producers as compared to ABC and NBC who seem to change some things gradually or not at all. One morning, CBS morning viewers will be watching their favorite newscast. The next morning, it could be completely different. Do you think CBS would have had better luck in the mornings had they stuck with one format/team/name? Had Paula Zahn and Harry Smith, or Jane Robelot and Mark McEwen, or Bryant Gumbel and Jane Clayson still been anchoring, would \"(CBS) This Morning\"/\"The Early Show\" be more competitive in the morning news race? -Geoffrey Huntington, NY

In deep murky water, do you use prefer a buzz bait or a spinner? Wait wrong blog! Seriously,I witness, probably the most irresponsible and just plain bad form of journalism practice, by the Early show on a story they did on scooters.(You must have asked DR.Senay on how to broadcast, a bad story),Will NOT go into detail, you will just have to read my e-mail for criticism.Question I have for you is a feature story such as the bad one on scooters. In a feature story how long is the lead time between the time the story is assign and the time broadcast on to the Early show.

A fine idea. Perhaps we can get some of the Sunday 60 Minutes crew on 10 plus one as well in the future?
