Scattered showers continue Labor Day, with flooding threat in North Texas as meteorological fall kicks off

Temperatures gradually warm in North Texas as meteorological fall kicks off

If you thought Meteorological Summer, June to August, was milder than the past few years, you are right.

The average high temperature for this season was 84.49 degrees, and the past few years have been warmer. Also, there were 6 triple-digit days this season; typically, there are around 20. Believe it or not, the summer of 2025 had the fewest number of 100-degree or higher days DFW has seen since 2007, which ended up as the 29th on record.

Meteorological Fall also started mild; Monday's high temperature was 89 degrees, sitting 4 degrees below average.

Overnight, radiational cooling will take place because of the light winds and mostly clear skies, dipping temperatures in the low 70s. There is a lot of moisture in the atmosphere, so fog may form in the morning. Don't forget to use low beam headlights.

Tuesday, a weak cold front is forecast to move through during the afternoon, which may spark up an isolated storm. This will also keep the highs either near or below average.

Over the next few days, temperatures will gradually warm up a few degrees. The next big cold front is expected next weekend, bringing a cool down and a chance for more rain.
