Gusty winds increase fire danger in North Texas on Monday
It has been a very breezy and warm day in North Texas, as high pressure remains situated to our south, but a low pressure system moves through the Plains.
This tight pressure gradient has increased our winds out of the south on Monday, which quickly brought temperatures back to near 90° across much of the region.
That disturbance to our north will send a mostly dry cold front through North Texas Monday night, which will keep us breezy Tuesday, but will drop our temperatures by 10-15°.
That breeze, along with very low relative humidity, will continue our elevated fire threat across the region.
We will be nice and dry through the midweek, with temperatures warming back to the lower 80s for Wednesday, which is still above average for this point in the year.
Thursday looks to feature just an isolated shower chances, ahead of a stronger cold front that arrives Friday into Saturday.
This disturbance has caused us to issue a First Alert Weather Day for Friday, mainly watching the evening and overnight timeframe.
Threats for strong to severe thunderstorms during that timeframe, followed by a quick cool down on Saturday.
Make sure to check back in on the forecast throughout the week, and we'll be sure to keep you apprised of the latest.
