Expect slight cooler day and rain chances, before temperatures bounce back into upper 90s

A cold front will bring rain, cooler temperatures to North Texas over holiday weekend

Tuesday's high temperature topped out at 88 degrees, which is now in the history books as the coolest August Texas Ranger game.

Temperatures on Wednesday morning will be cooler in the lower 70s with a breeze from the southeast around 5 to 10 mph. Though it will be a cool start, it won't be cool enough to dress the kids in long sleeves. Highs will be seasonable in the lower 90s.

Partly cloudy skies are expected throughout the day, with a small chance of rain in the afternoon; most of North Texas will stay dry.

Thursday compressional heating will take place ahead of the next big front. Meaning temperatures will climb into the upper 90s, even flirting with 100 degrees for some. The heat won't last for long, the front is expected to move through Thursday night.

Highs will dip back down into the 80s and rainfall will be in the forecast throughout Labor Day weekend.
