Election Day in North Texas starts out cool, warms to the upper 70s

Clear skies in North Texas for the arrival of the November super moon

The above-average temperature trend continues in North Texas, with temperatures continuing to warm along a strong southerly flow as we get through the workweek.

We will be breezy, as we are dominated by high pressure, but an area of surface low pressure sits just on the lee side of the Rockies, which tightens our pressure gradient locally, and gives us those gusty winds at times.

Fortunately, we have clear skies day and night, which is great for this evening, as tonight marks the arrival of the November supermoon. The moon rises in North Texas around 4:48 p.m. Tuesday and will be up in the night sky until setting at 6:57 a.m. Wednesday, November 5.

This full supermoon is called the Beaver Moon, as this is typically the time of year beavers take shelter after gathering food for winter. Tuesday and Wednesday nights will be the best nights to see it before it begins to wane.

For tomorrow, temperatures warm a bit, with highs back into the lower 80s starting midweek, and lasting through the beginning of the weekend.
