North Texas cooldown ends warm streak, 80s return by midweek

The lows Sunday morning reached down into the mid-30s across the metroplex, and it will be colder Monday morning. The last freeze at DFW was on Feb. 1, 21 days ago. We'll get very close to another one.

An epic winter storm is hitting New England right now. New York is under a blizzard warning for the first time in nine years, over a foot of snow is expected, along with 50+ mph winds.

Despite this chill in the air of late, we've had a remarkably warm February. Right now, the average temperature is more typical of March.

We'll end the month with warm conditions and elevated fire risk. The winds will be strong Tuesday throughThursday. Given the dry conditions and dry fuels, the grass fire risk remains high all week.
