More beautiful weather, clear skies in North Texas before a strong weekend cold front

Big changes arrive in North Texas with a strong cold front this weekend

Temperatures remain 10-15° above normal through Saturday as a ridge of high pressure holds across the western half of the United States.

We hang onto a bit of a breeze the next few days, but morning lows are mild, and daytime highs hold in the lower 80s.

Big changes arrive late Saturday into Sunday, however, as a strong fall cold front moves through the center of the country.

While it doesn't bring any moisture to North Texas, it does bring a steep drop in temperatures.

Sunday morning's temperatures fall to the upper 40s, which is right near normal for this time of year. But by Sunday afternoon, highs only reach the mid to upper 50s, which is a 20-25° drop from where we'll be Saturday.

It's Monday morning that we'll really start to feel it, as morning lows bottom out right close to freezing for most of the region, including the metroplex.

This marks our coldest air since early March, and as a result, the First Alert Weather Team has issued a First Alert Weather Day, to give everyone a heads up to bundle up, and cover any plants you'd like to save.

Temperatures then work their way back close to normal by Tuesday, then above normal by the middle and end of the week.

Our dry stretch lingers through at least the end of next week.
