MoneyWatch: GM extends deadline for victims of faulty ignition switches; Japan says economy in depression

General Motors is extending the deadline an extra month for victims of faulty ignition switches to file for compensation. Also, Japan unexpectedly said its economy slipped into a recession in the third quarter. Japan is the world's third biggest economy after the United States and China.
