Early tornado warnings credited with sparing lives in Midwest
No town was hit harder by the tornadoes that tore through the Midwest Sunday than Washington, Ill. But accurate weather forecasting on the local and national level, along with National Weather Service warnings, are being credited with saving many from what could have been an even deadlier disaster.
