The U.S. military is ramping up its response to the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, where it has already killed more than 3,400 people in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.

The airmen are constructing a modular hospital, known by the military as an expeditionary medical support system (EMEDS), near the international airport ouside of Monrovia.

The airmen will train U.S. public health service members in using the hospital's medical equipment, but will not be involved in treatment of Ebola patients.
