D.C. Cherry Blossoms in Full Bloom
The Jefferson Memorial can be seen behind cherry tree branches in full bloom around the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C., Thursday, April 1, 2010, with in the background. Tourists are flooding the Washington Monument grounds to observe the National Cherry Blossom Festival - an annual two-week event that celebrates spring. This year's Festival marks the 98th celebration of the original gift of the 3,000 cherry blossom trees given to the United States by Japan in 1912.
