One employee reported in a recent survey by CareerBuilder.com that he once arrived late to work because his car wouldn't start -- because he was too intoxicated to pass a breathalyzer test.
The study, which polled more than 6,500 workers in November 2012, asked participants to share the most outrageous excuses by employees for showing up late.
Employee locks purse in newspaper box
CareerBuilder.com reports that an employee showed up late after she locked her purse in a coin-operated newspaper vending machine. Without change -- which understandably was in her purse, she couldn't open the box to retrieve it.
