Woody Allen's "To Rome with Love" to open L.A. Film Festival
(CBS News) Movie lovers attending this year's Los Angeles Film Festival will be treated to a trip to Rome.
Woody Allen's latest film, "To Rome with Love," will open the annual festival on June 14, Film Independent announced Thursday.
"I can't think of a better way to kick off this year's festival than with the original independent filmmaker himself, Woody Allen. It's a true honor for Los Angeles to host the North American premiere of 'To Rome with Love,'" festival Director Stephanie Allain said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Allen, who scored a hit (and a screenwriting Oscar win) with his last film "Midnight in Paris," wrote and directed "To Rome with Love." He also stars in the film, marking his first on-screen role since "Scoop" in 2006.
The film also stars Alec Baldwin, Ellen Page, Jessie Eisenberg, Penelope Cruz and Greta Gerwig. "To Rome with Love" will be released in Italy on April 20, and opens in U.S. theaters on June 22.
