We love the feminist Ryan Gosling meme
Internet memes have been dominated by cats and human stunts for years, so we were excited to discover a Tumblr blog that turns Ryan Gosling into a feminist.
Feminist Ryan Gosling posts a series of photos of Gosling expressing thoughtful quotes like, "Hey girl. My perfect Saturday is a hot cup of tea at sunrise, a trip to the Farmer's Market, and curling up on the couch to figure out bell hook's theory that feminism is a struggle to eradicate the ideology of domination that permeates Western culture with you."
Amazing, right?
We don't know if Gosling is a true feminist or not, but his film characters tend to have a sensitive side that make the ladies swoon. There's no denying the appeal of Noah from "The Notebook."
The blog was created by Danielle Henderson, a graduate student at the University of Wisconsin's gender and women studies program. She calls her Gosling posts, "feminist theory flashcards from your favorite sensitive movie dude-turned-meme."
The "hey girl" Gosling meme quietly started in 2008 by Douglas Reinhardt's blog F*** Yeah! Ryan Gosling. The ladies at Jezebel even created a ringtone with the heartthrob saying things like, "Hey Girl. Sorry my shirt fell off."
Henderson gave the meme a feminist spin that we love so much. Kudos!
