Watch: Katy Perry's emoticon lyric video for "Roar"

Katy Perry is making a "roar" of a comeback.

The 28-year-old pop singer just released an emoticon-filled lyric video for the single "Roar." The footage shows the 28-year-old pop star's phone, as she texts from everywhere from the gym to the bathroom.

The track leaked online over the weekend before Monday's lyric video release. The song's lyrics include: "I got the eye of the tiger, the fire/Dancing through the fire, 'cause I am a champion/And you're gonna hear me roar."

"Roar" will appear on "Prism," Perry's new album due Oct. 22, which comes on the heels of 2010's "Teenage Dream." This time, she's collaborating with Max Martin, Greg Wells and Dr. Luke. She will perform the song at the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25.

It's unclear whether John Mayer, Perry's on-again, off-again boyfriend, will make an appearance on the set, but Perry will guest on Mayer's sixth studio album, "Paradise Valley," which will arrive on Aug. 20.
