VIDEO: Boy wielding toy fights back against armed robber

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- A young boy shopping for a stuffed animal at a Maryland Game Stop fought back against an armed robber by hitting him with a toy.

CBS affiliate WUSA reports that Montgomery County Police are investigating the robbery which occurred on the evening of May 20. They have released surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the suspects with the public's help.


The footage shows two men in black pointing guns at people in the store, and shows the moment when the boy attempted to fight back against one suspect.

"He's a brave little boy," his father told the station.

According to a press release, investigators say one suspect ordered three customers, including the boy, to stand against the wall. Then, both suspects ordered the store clerks to the floor, while stealing an undisclosed amount of money and personal property.

Police described the suspects as black males in their 20s, approximately 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. They were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, gloves, and masks.

Anyone with information about the suspects or the crime is urged to contact the department's robbery section at (240) 773-5070. Anonymous tipsters may call Montgomery County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Authorities say Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
