Vanessa Carlton is pregnant

Vanessa Carlton recently told CBS News that she was pushing back the release date of her new album, "Liberman." And now we know why: The 33-year-old singer is pregnant.

Carlton announced then news on her Facebook page, along with a picture of her growing baby bump:

Carlton is expecting her first child with her new husband, Deer Tick singer-guitarist John McCauley. The pair tied the knot last year, with singer Stevie Nicks serving as the officiant.

Nicks and Carlton are close friends, and Carlton even consulted the Fleetwood Mac singer about her upcoming album. "I sent her the album and I think she really digs it," Carlton said. "She helps with each record to figure out the order of the songs. For the first time ever, she thought that the order was correct that I gave her, so that was good."

Carlton, meanwhile, has been very open about her road to pregnancy. In November 2013, she revealed that she had suffered a fallopian pregnancy.

"This is not considered a viable pregnancy, because the fetus cannot develop and it is a high risk situation for the mother because of the potential for tubal rupture and internal bleeding," Carlton explained at the time.
