Three arrested in beating of army vet in Michigan

WESTLAND, Mich. - Police say that three suspects believed to be involved in the April 3 beating of army veteran Adam Wagner outside a convenience store in Westland, Mich., have been arrested, according to CBS Detroit.

The identities of the three people have not been released, but police have credited the public for their assistance in identifying the suspects, reports the station.

The Wayne County Prosecutors Office will determine criminal charges against the three. Wagner, 25, of Livonia, suffered several injuries in the attack.

Wagner told police that three men started harassing him inside the convenience store. When he went outside, the men reportedly followed. Wagner said the incident escalated after the trio noticed the military decals on his vehicle and after several derogatory remarks, the three men allegedly attacked him, repeatedly kicking and punching him.

The suspects, described as men in their 20s, attempted to run off, but the victim was close behind, yelling that he was calling police on his cellphone. That's when the three men allegedly attacked the victim for a second time, knocking him to the ground as they pummeled him with their fists, according to reports.

A nearby resident saw what was happening and called 911. The three suspects then took off running, reports CBS Detroit.

Wagner suffered a broken nose, head injuries, and cuts to his mouth and face.
