Sweat critical
The second of two convicted murderers who staged a brazen escape three weeks ago from a maximum-security prison in northern New York was shot and captured yesterday. CBS News Correspondent Anna Werner reports, Sweat is listed in critical condition. Get the details for the capture and the "hero" who captured him.
Tunisia attack
After Friday's deadly attack by a gunman in Tunisia, British Prime Minister David Cameron promises a "full-spectrum" response to ISIS extremism. At least 15 British residents are among the 38 killed, and that number is expected to rise. New images and footage of the rampage reveal more details of what happened at the scene. CBS News Correspondent Charlie D'Agata reports from Sousse, Tunisia.
Disputed island
There are growing tensions between China and its neighbors around the South China Sea. As "CBS This Morning" reported, China is reclaiming land and building islands, and the U.S. believes China is looking to expand its military might. CBS News Correspondent Seth Doane spoke to a mayor on the Filipino island of Pag-Asa that is now caught in the global controversy.
Whitey Bulger
Three Massachusetts teens are holding onto a piece of "Most Wanted" history. Legendary crime boss Whitey Bulger, the one-time FBI informant inspired Jack Nicholson's character in the Oscar-winning drama "The Departed," became their pen pal of sorts. CBS News Correspondent Elaine Quijano reports on his surprising message to the students from behind bars.
Globalization ending?
Over the last six decades, countries around the world have increasingly relied on international trade to obtain the goods and services they consume. The trend toward increased globalization was particularly pronounced from the mid-1980s to the mid-2000s, becoming the source of much anxiety for workers in industries threatened by offshoring. But that trend may be coming to an end.
Bernie rising?
Bernie Sanders is eliciting some effusive responses from voters: one man called him the "penicillin" that the country needs, while another compared him to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Sanders has surprised many, even his closest aides, as hundreds, sometimes thousands, of voters have turned out to see him speak in recent weeks.
Candidate Kasich
Ohio Governor John Kasich will declare he's a candidate for the presidency, CBS News has learned. On Face the Nation yesterday, he told host John Dickerson "I just want to do it if I think I have a path to win." He said, "I can go out and tell my story and hopefully, the polls will rise."
Faith over hate
Face the Nation host John Dickerson remarks on the forgiveness that Charleston victims' families offered alleged church murderer Dylann Roof and why that's proof hate cannot destroy faith.
Obergefell and Arthur
A matter of "dignity" is how Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy cast his majority opinion upholding the right to same-sex marriage. Though Friday's decision invoked high constitutional principles, the case had its roots in a very human, very personal crisis. CBS News Correspondent Martha Teichner reports on the details of the case the high court ruled on for Sunday Morning.
Childhood obesity
More than one third of U.S. children and teens are overweight or obese, according to the latest figures from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents over the past 30 years. New guidelines published today by the American Academy of Pediatrics seek to reverse that trend by placing greater emphasis on the prevention of childhood obesity, not just the treatment.
