Third man charged in shootout at Chicago barbecue

CHICAGO -- A third person has been charged with murder for a shooting that killed three people and wounded two more at a barbecue on the South Side of Chicago this fall, reports CBS Chicago.

Calvan Colbert, 18, faces three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, authorities told the station.

Anthony Jackson, 20, and 22-year-old Lawrence Brown had already been charged with the attack in the Fuller Park neighborhood. They were ordered held without bond.

Five people were shot shortly after midnight on Sept. 29, when two males opened fire from an alley on about 30 people at a barbecue in the area of Fuller Park, police said at the time. The barbecue was held to memorialize someone who died in a crash years ago.

Ayanna Northern, 22, was shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Antian Hardmon, 25, and Tyrone Spikes, 28, were each shot in the head and pronounced dead at area hospitals.

Another woman, 24, was shot in the left leg and a 36-year-old man who was also shot in the leg later walked in to a hospital for treatment. Their conditions were stabilized, police said.
