There Is A Contract for Everything

From Pennsylvania land of corrupt judges who misuse contracts comes the story that the Democratic House Caucus hired a contractor to screen applicants for paid positions with that organization. The Morning Call writes that despite a hiring freeze for state employees the Caucus wants to fill three positions. To add some insult to injury one of the positions is vacant due to the employee being fired due to his arrest in "Bonusgate". This was a scandal where Democratic legislators payed employees large bonuses who and then kicked it back as campaign contributions. They also worked on campaigns while technically working for the state. Eighteen people were charged. Gans, Gans & Associates were hired on a no-bid contract to find people to fill the empty positions. This story illustrates some possible abuses in government contracting: no-bid awards, politicization, and favoritism. On top of that the three jobs the company was contracted to fill still are unfilled.
