(CBS) Fans of "The Hunger Games" got a sneak peek at the book's big-screen adaptation during Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards.

The clip shows Lawrence, as Everdeen, running through a forest - presumably the arena where the book's Hunger Games take place. She also shows off her archery skills, firing a bow that then becomes part of the film's logo.

The preview doesn't show any glimpses of the men who vie for the heroine's heart - loyal friend Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), but Hemsworth is heard in a voiceover during the clip.

"The Hunger Games" hits theaters on March 23.
