Texas officials call off search for missing woman

GARDEN RIDGE, Texas – A massive effort by state troopers and over 150 volunteers to find a missing San Antonio-area woman came up empty this weekend, and now authorities are calling off the search, reports CBS affiliate KENS.

Leanne Bearden, 33,  of Garden Ridge, Texas, hasn’t been seen in 10 days. She went for a walk around 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, and never returned, said husband Josh Bearden.

The Texas Search and Rescue Team scoured 23 square miles in the Garden Ridge area over the weekend, but found nothing related to the woman’s disappearance.

Given the lack of any solid leads or signs that a crime has taken place, authorities have called off the official search.

According to her husband, Leanne is without her phone or credit cards, though she did have roughly $100 in cash before her disappearance.

Garden Ridge Chief of Police Donna O’Connor said: “Actually, we are somewhat relieved that today’s results did not develop into anything that has led us to believe that she was in an area where she got hurt or out of the elements. All we know is that she has disappeared, and that is very heart-wrenching for investigators to not have anything.”

Police say Bearden is 5' and weighs about 100 pounds. She has brown eyes. If you have any information about Leanne Bearden, you're asked to call 210-651-6441.
