(CBS) MT. PLEASANT, Texas - An Amber Alert has been issued for Ruby Zavala, a 14-year-old girl who police say was abducted outside an East Texas church at knifepoint Sunday, CBS DFW reports.
Authorities say the teen was among two children and a woman kidnapped around 1 p.m. Sunday at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Mount Pleasant, about 100 miles east of Dallas.
According to CBS DFW, the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Jesus Ramirez, freed the woman and one of the children a short time later, but remains at large with 14-year-old Ruby.
The car Ramirez fled in was reportedly found wrecked later Sunday, about eight miles east of Mount Pleasant. A search was under way near that location for Ruby and Ramirez, according to the station.
