Teen charged with raping 9-year-old girl at Maryland state fair

TIMONIUM, Md. -- A 17-year-old boy has been charged with raping a 9-year-old girl at the Maryland State Fair, reports CBS Baltimore.

The girl told police that the teen first touched her inappropriately at the fair in suburban Baltimore, before taking her to a secluded area Thursday in the fair's swine barn, where he allegedly forced her to perform various sex acts.

The suspect's and victim's families are friendly, and traveled to the fair together, police said. The girl told investigators that the suspect had repeatedly abused her for years, according to Baltimore County police officer Shawn Vincent.

"There was a farmer there that actually saw him buckling up his pants and approached the two of them," Vincent said. "When the boy saw he was being approached, he left with the young girl."

The suspect has been charged with second degree rape, a second degree sex offense and second degree assault, among other charges. He is being held on $500,000 bond.
