Cops say Florida resident Jorge Garcia tried to use his baby as a human shield when an officer drew a Taser on the ranting dad during a traffic stop.

"Tase the baby," the 39-year-old from Delton, Fla., just north of Orlando, reportedly yelled at police.

Police did not tase the baby.

Garcia was one of more than 10 people involved in a street corner argument Friday afternoon, a sheriff's report said.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they were told by an onlooker to check a vehicle involved because it might contain a firearm, according to the Daytona News-Journal.

When deputies stopped the vehicle, which was not Garcia's, he showed up on the scene and began yelling and acting irrationally.

Deputies tried to arrest Garcia, but he got back in his own vehicle and refused to come out, according to a Volusia County Sheriff's warrant.

When one of the deputies pulled out a Taser, police say Garcia tried to use his infant child as a human shield, reportedly saying "Tase the baby."

Deputies managed to get the infant safely away but, according to deputies, that's when Garcia's wife, Tangeca, 35, jumped in and hugged her husband, putting her body between deputies and her husband so they couldn't taser him, the newspaper reported.

Jorge Garcia was charged with child neglect without great harm and resisting an officer without violence and is out on $6,500 bail. Tangeca Garcia was also charged with resisting an officer without violence and released from the Volusia County Branch Jail after posting $500 bail, a booking officer said.
