SEATTLE (CBS/AP) King County prosecutors have charged Seattle high school teacher Taryn Fairbanks with having sex with a 17-year-old student during a party at his home when his parents were out of town.
Spokesman Dan Donohoe says the 33-year-old faced a charge of first-degree sexual misconduct with a minor on July 13.
Fairbanks taught language arts at Garfield High School and advised the school newspaper. She was hired in 2006.
Police detectives investigating school rumors questioned Fairbanks July 6.
She said she had an alcohol relapse at the time of June 23 party. She said she had dropped by the party to drop off supplies for a school newspaper retreat.
The Seattle Times also reports Fairbanks married a man last year who graduated from Kentlake High School in 2003 when she was a teacher there.
Police say there were no allegations of misconduct at the school in Kent.
Fairbanks has since resigned from her job at Garfield High School and moved to Las Vegas, according to The Seattle Times.
The newspaper reports Fairbanks and her husband are now getting divorced.
