Suspect in Fla. double murder arrested in N.C.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police say they have arrested a suspect in a Florida double murder at a home in North Carolina.

David Junior Lopez, 32, is one of two men charged with two counts of first-degree murder in a shooting incident at an apartment complex that left a man and a woman dead and another woman injured in Orlando Aug. 5. Police have not commented on a potential motive behind the shootings.

Authorities said in a news release that investigators found Lopez's car in Charlotte Friday night and tracked him to a nearby home several hours later.

Lopez' arrest came after the second suspect in the murders, 29-year-old James Stewart, was arrested Friday in Orlando after a 10-hour standoff, authorities said, reports CBS affiliate WBTV.

A federal law enforcement source told WBTV that Lopez came to Charlotte because he has family and friends in the area.

He was taken into custody without incident and is at the Mecklenburg County jail awaiting extradition proceedings.
