"Jump Street," "Men in Black" crossover may happen

For fans of the "Men in Black" and "Jump Street" franchises, the impossible may happen; a crossover film is in the works from Sony.

According to The Wall Street Journal, e-mails from the studio's motion picture chief, Amy Pascal, leaked this week, revealing that a follow-up to the hit sequel "22 Jump Street" will have Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum interacting with the "Men in Black" universe.

According to the e-mails, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones would not have prominent roles in the film, but may still make an appearance.

Film-making duo Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who directed the last two "Jump Street" films as well as "The Lego Movie," are reportedly on board to produce and may direct.

In one message, Hill wrote, "jump street merging with mib i think that's clean and rad and powerful."

In another, Hannah Minghella, a president of production for Sony's Columbia Pictures label, said, "We don't have a script yet so we'll be greenlighting the movie off the concept and the talent involved."

The crossover film certainly fits the self-aware, left-field nature of the "Jump Street" saga, and to be honest, we wouldn't mind seeing Tatum and Hill vanquish an alien or two.
