Sofia Vergara tops list of highest-paid TV actresses

Sofia Vergara has landed the top spot on Forbes' list of the highest-paid actresses on television for the third consecutive year.

The "Modern Family" star's streak continues largely thanks to her business endeavors, according to the financial magazine. In addition to her earnings from the Emmy-winning series, she also has endorsements and licensing deals with brands like Diet Pepsi, CoverGirl and Head & Shoulders.

Vergara is also the co-founder of Latin World Entertainment, has a deal with Kmart and recently launched her first fragrance for HSN. All those ventures combined earned her an estimated $37 million between June 2013 and June 2014 - that's $11 million more than the highest-paid TV actor (Ashton Kutcher, with $26 million) and puts her $24 million ahead of the next woman on the list, Forbes says.

Coming in second is Mariska Hargitay, with an estimated $13 million in earnings. Her "Law & Order: SVU" will premiere its 16th season on NBC this fall, and she reportedly earns "significant profits" from syndication of the popular show.

Kaley Cuoco is in third place with $11 million. In addition to her role on "The Big Bang Theory," the actress will co-star with Kevin Hart in a comedy hitting theaters next year and has endorsements with Priceline and Toyota.
