(CBS) BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Simeon Gilmore, the brother of former University of Alabama standout Marcell Dareus, was a victim of a triple homicide on Sunday at a suburb of Birmingham, Ala., CBS affiliate WIAT reports.
A source close to the family told WIAT that Dareus is making plans to return home to Birmingham to be with his family. Dareus was a defensive tackle for the Alabama Crimson Tide before being drafted to the Buffalo Bills in 2011.
Gilmore, 19, was among three people shot to death at a home on Sunday afternoon. Police said Casey Cumberland, 22, and Joshua Smith, 22, were also killed.
Jon Staggs, 20, was charged with three counts of capital murder. Police have not released a possible motive.
Staggs is now being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond.
