Rx for arrest: Drug dealers text Conn. cops about selling illegal painkillers
(CBS) MERIDEN, Conn. - Two hapless drug dealers accidentally texted a police officer Friday with an offer to sell black market Percocet last week.
The officer who received the text notified the drug unit and continued communicating with the texter, eventually setting up a "buy," reports CBS Connecticut.
Police say 25-year-old Frank Boemmels and 19-year-old Lorraine Apuzzo showed up to sell the painkiller, but grew suspicious and tried to run. According to NBC Connecticut, Apuzzo got in her car and tried to flee, but police broke her windows to get her out.
Officers took both suspects into custody and seized 100 Percocet tablets.
Boemmels and Apuzzo face charges of criminal attempt to sell narcotics and conspiracy, and Apuzzo also faces charges involving her attempt to escape.
Police say the investigation continues as they look for the source of the drugs as well as the person for whom the text message was originally intended.
